Kelly McMichael Trio

Kelly McMichael (from Peterborough ON, based in St. John’s), is known for her commanding vocals and versatile songwriting. Kelly’s debut album ‘Waves’ made the 2022 Polaris Prize Shortlist and won many awards and accolades, including Ron Hynes Songwriter of The Year from MusicNL and The East Coast Music Award for Best Rock Album. Recorded in St John’s NL with co-producer/ engineer/ drummer/ inventor Jake Nicoll (The Burning Hell), ‘Waves’ received international praise for rich production and arrangements, displaying timeless rock and pop sounds that provide a dreamy backdrop for clever and fierce lyrics. At a live show, Kelly delivers a playful and emotive performance with unique side players who capture the joy of rock and roll together.

As a multi-instrumentalist and vocal chameleon, Kelly has been seen and heard with Sarah Harmer, Rouge, Thelma & Louise, The Burning Hell, Joanna Barker, Green & Gold, Allie X, The Hidden Cameras and many more, and she has plans to expand her work as a producer. With the recent backing of Newfoundland label LHM Records, Kelly McMichael is poised for her second album.
