Lorna Lovell

Lorna Lovell by Lisa LeDrew Photography - 10

Lorna Lovell, an Indigenous Singer/Songwriter from the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador, released her debut Contemporary Country album, “Whenever I Sing”, on February 28, 2020. With hints of Pop, Rock and Blues, the album is emotionally charged, entertaining, and sprinkled with her charm & humour. Produced by Clint Curtis at Sevenview Studios, the album also features electric & acoustic guitars, bass, keyboards (Clint Curtis) and drums (Steve Clarke), all unified by Lorna’s distinctive, sweet voice.

Since her first album release, Lorna has been busy with a television sync placement for her co-write with Rachel Cousins & Virginia Fudge – Hope To Bring (The Wedding Planners, Citytv); three MusicNL Award nominations including Country Artist of the Year and Indigenous Artist of the Year, a Canadian Independent Music Video Award Finalist (Best Indie Video) placement for All Your Dances music video (winner TBA March 27, 2022); and two new singles released – Harder Next Time (August 2021, & Holidays Are Hard, December 2021). She has performed live at various venues, including “Trails Tales Tunes” & “Writers at Woody Point” and was featured in a Hospitality NL tourism advertising campaign. More recently Lorna opened for Country Artist Jason Benoit, recorded a show and performed at First Light Indigenous Art and Performance Centre, and was a Guest Host on CBC Radio’s First Light Fridays program.

Lorna kept busy writing music during the pandemic lockdowns, and performing virtually for fans on social media and for Local Sounds on Rogers TV. She continues to give back to her community by performing at Long Term Care Homes to the delight of many of our precious seniors and staff.
Her first single, Island Girl continues to get added to more radio stations and is streamed as far away as Japan! Some of her other popular songs include Fly In My Whiskey and My Guitar’s Got A Buzz On Too. Plans for a new Contemporary Country album are under way – watch for it this Fall 2022!
